Hello virtual friends!
With the current situation at hand within our communities and in our world, I hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. At a time where there are so many concerns surrounding the future of education, jobs, livelihood and living conditions, I hope that we can all support one another at a vulnerable period such as this one. The immense impact that these circumstances have on our personal, social, emotional, physical and mental spaces within our lives is exponential. When I first started worldofwave, I created Instagram story challenges and posted quite frequently. Although I took a pause for some weeks, this is a critical time for all of us to come together and check in with ourselves as well as the people that we care most about. This week I will be starting a kindness/compassion campaign over Instagram that will highlight ideas for a #stayingathome challenge, in hopes of shedding light on the current situation and provide support for others.
Although we are practicing ‘social distancing’ and self-isolation, there are still so many opportunities to make the best of the time we have. Each day is an opportunity to seize the moment, to reach out to loved ones, try a new hobby, go out and enjoy the sun or binge watch that new t.v. series while eating ice cream. I understand that it can be challenging to see the sunlight at a time where it seems like there are only clouds, but take every moment day by day. These moments are for spending time with family, friends, your pets and taking time for yourself. Emotional and social support are so important, so I urge you to look out for your wellbeing and extend that compassion for friends, loved ones, significant others and/or anyone in your community. Whether it’s a phone call, text message, Facetime, Skype call, email or even a letter, let’s give each other hope and sunshine. Be sure to check out my Instagram for more stories and sneak peeks of the blog!
Stay safe and practice the social distancing. Sending you sunshine your way!
Extend the love,
