Happy long weekend friends! With my last few months of university coming up, I’ve been thinking more about my experiences that I have had, and how this chapter will be closing very soon. Spending some time on my own, has gotten me to rethink all that has happened recently. I realized that a major recurring theme, was the feeling and fear of being different. This blog post is dedicated to the people who feel like they are different, those who are still in pursuit of finding themselves, and anyone who feels like they are out of place. I’ve been there and experienced it first hand…..quite a few times. I still sometimes have these feelings, but just know that you are not alone. You may be thinking, what’s the point of talking about it? That feeling of being different or out of place, is not your fault. We all experience it at different times of our lives, but they build us into the individuals that we are today.

In all those moments that I experienced, I kept thinking to myself ‘why can’t I be like everyone else?’, ‘why do I look the way I do?’, ‘why me?’. It has taken quite a few years to combat those thoughts, but I learnt to gradually see the benefits of being different, through positivity and learning on my own. The people that I have met through these last few years, have shown me something special. Embrace what you have and use that as an advantage in this beautiful world. Whether it is a skill, talent, or just your personality, be proud of who you are and show that towards others.

I know that in the moment of feeling alone or different, it can be hard to think but breathe. Each and every person experiences something different, but we all go through these waves of emotions and actions over time. There will be many positive and uplifting people that will enter your life, who will notice how you feel and reach out their hand to support you. They may not all be with you at this very moment, but when you least expect it, it will be incredible.

Timing and fate are crazy things, but that is what brings new adventures and experiences over time. Who knows, what could happen in 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day? Having the fear of being different, gives you a new perspective that can challenge you to overcome these obstacles and rise with strength and happiness.

Rise up and never stop trying.

Sending you only the best,
